If the "clash of the Chancellors" is anything to go by it is going to be a difficult General Election debate for the banks. Alistair Darling, Vince Cable and George Osborne competed live on radio last week to see who could give bankers the greatest kicking.
For Angela Knight, arch senior manager of the British Bankers" Association and the lady who at times has seemed the solitary voice fortifying banks over the past dual years, it all looks really worrying.
"If you are at the back of in the polls, you only have to come out and shout, "I am going to do this or that to the bankers" and your ratings will jump," she says.
